Valentines Day?

Ehh.

I just found out about this story. Now, apparently this is not a hoax.

THIS GUY, THIS GUY (!!!)

it ^^^THIS^^^ baby's father.

I... I don't even have words. What kind of fucked up world do we live in that this kind of stuff happens? This kid (the dad, not the baby) does not even know the meaning of the world, "financially." Hm, let's see, maybe he'll get by fine, after all, parenting does not require any grasp on the term "financially"
...Wait.

Oh yeah. It does.

After crazy octoplet lady, this? I don't understand people at times.

I was watching this report on celebrity stalkers the other day, I bought a book on the world's most famous gangsters (after having just finished one on serial killers), I am obssessed with trying to figure out just what the hell would drive someone to go to these extremes. In this kid's case, he probably doesn't even get the situation he's in, which is more sad than frustrating, but when adults decide to willingly (whether by reason of untreated mental illness or simple desire to break the rules) act in a way that is so messed up, so irrational, it makes you wonder.

Everyone, at one time, has thought, "I want to kill this person!" but common sense brings us back to the reality that actually going through with that desire isn't a good idea, but even before that, there's the fact that you may say or think the words, but would never actually go through with the act.

I'm going completely off-topic here, but in a way, these incidents all relate to each other. One has a messed up thought (example: "Hey, I want to have more children even if I already have 6, 3 of whom have special needs, and I don't have a job and live with my parents!"), and then goes through with it, more times than not with help! It's not just isolated cases, it's many, many, many people deciding that living by society's standards just doesn't appeal to them, and they'd rather just... become a media story, or something.

Because in the end, I truly do think that a part of this phenomena is the media attention these people get. In "Serial Killers" (an excellent read for anyone interested in the topic), there is a whole discussion about the fact that serial killers are very much interested by the media portrayal of their acts. Their acts amuse them, but not as much as the clueless reporters reinstating all of what happened! Some even went to the media and gave clues themselves.

Octoplet lady, she's been all, "no, it's not about the media", but the lady just so happens to have had plastic surgeries that happen to make her look like Angelina Jolie? "No, it's not about the media"... But yeah, I'll do a primetime interview. It might not be a media, but she is on EVERY SINGLE tabloid this week, has her own website, is apparently in talks for a book or reality series... Obviously her "I just love children" reasoning has its limits! Either she has a mental illness resulting in a SERIOUS need for more attention by kids, or she wanted to be famous (it worked so well for Jon and Kate + 8.)

But basically the point is, let's hope the kids having kids story is a hoax. Let's end this with the words of the ever-smart Xzibit.
